What are we looking for?
We are looking for an Assistant Quality Control Manager at our manufacturing facility. In this position you will coordinate quality control functions to ensure products are being built within applied specification and quality requirements, while maintaining production flow and provide technical and quality control support to Quality Control Manager.
What will you do?
  • Assist and perform the daily activities required to coordinate the quality control function in compliance with company goals and objectives.
  • Maintain regular communication with Quality Control Manager regarding equipment, production, and quality problems.
  • Assist with maintaining quality assurance procedures and activities for existing processes. Investigate quality problems and assist in developing countermeasures to eliminate future problems.
  • Analyze quality problems using judgement based on AWS/AISC/SSPC code books and visual knowledge of a poor fitment.
  • Read and understand technical ISO, SPEC and SHOP drawings.
  • Prepare, analyze, and communicate quality control information and reports detailing defects and corrective actions.
  • Assist in machine and tool calibrations and continued education to fabricators.
  • Support and make recommendations to help improve procedures and methods.
  • Ensure quality requirements are met on materials purchased from suppliers and all finished goods leaving American Steel, using quality measurement, craftsmanship, and traceability characteristics.
  • Support and assist the Quality Control Manager as needed.
  • Physical fitness and excellent eyesight are important due to rigors of the tasks performed.
What do we require?
  • General High School Diploma and good Math Skills helpful.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, documents code books and weld symbols.
  • Must possess organizational skills.
  • Prior experience in the Steel Fabrication Industry a plus.
