The League of Education Voters (LEV) is a non-partisan nonprofit organization that partners with parents, students, and civic leaders who believe in a quality education from cradle to career. LEV is the premier Washington-based organization working to improve public education from early learning through higher education. What are we looking for?
We are looking for a Director of Operations to be a member of the executive leadership team.
‘Day in the life’:
  • Act as an effective and inspiring leader
  • Staff the board finance committee, primary lead for other relevant committees
  • Manage the office administrator and payroll, human resources and IT vendor contracts
  • Collaborate to be a strong partner to LEV’s CEO and Board of Directors
  • Oversight of seamless board communications system and meeting scheduling
  • Partner to build a data-driven, outcomes-oriented and highly-accountable culture
  • Support teams to manage through change and establishing effective matrix management systems
  • Perform basic accounting functions, with support from contracted bookkeeper and/or CPA firm as needed
  • Build out systems to accommodate anticipated growth
  • Oversee financial strategies and develop forward-looking projections
  • Develop grant budgets and support grant proposal development
  • Oversee the finances, human resources, facilities, and information technology functions
  • Develop comprehensive financial reports including long-range forecasts
  • Develop and monitor budgets, cash flow planning and asset management
  • Ensure that audited financial statements, tax returns, and other regulatory compliance requirements are produced and reported
  • Ensure the CEO and all board members have the information they need to clearly understand the organization’s financial health and sustainability
  • Build strong relationships, provide support, and action plans for internal/external stakeholders
  • Oversee reporting requirements for 501c3, 501c4, Political Action Committee (PAC), multi-year grants
  • Oversee fiscal sponsorship grant contracts and reporting
  • Maintain a strong financial control environment, regularly assessing and refining the internal structure
  • Oversee customer relationship management (CRM) platforms and processes
  • Committed to principles of diversity, equity and inclusion and seeks to infuse these principles throughout team and organization
  • Passionate about strengthening education opportunities and systems for children in WA

  • An MBA or CPA is preferred
What do we require?
  • 10 years of broad finance and operations experience
  • Team leadership, including supporting developing, and coaching top performers   
  • Experience supporting implementation of strategic and team level work plans
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting, including fund accounting, compliance, and reporting for diverse mission-related activities
  • Proven nonprofit management experience in organization engaged in direct policy research, advocacy and political activity
